"By the time an individual reaches middle age, they hope their acne vulgaris is controlled. As I approached 22 years old, I recognized I was the only one among my peers with severe adult cystic acne. I was embarrassed. After numerous topical creams, facials, prescriptions and a surplus of funds for treatments, I began to give up hope and gain general insecurity. Makeup and a good sense of humor became my defense mechanism.

As a final course of action, Dr. Stewart recommended an Laser-beam therapy. I felt better just knowing Dr. Stewart and her fantastic staff remained optimistic. While I sat with Donyale Frederick her assistant and discussed the procedure, I felt a sudden increase in trust and expectation. Was this going to be the answer to all my years of acne frustration?

The procedure itself is not a certainty and can be costly. I had to attempt the laser option, however, so I could say I had completed every alternative toward clearer skin. Although the word laser can be daunting, it is not as invasive as I first thought. The laser itself feels like a cool blast of air quickly followed by a rubber band-like snap. It is an extremely swift procedure done with tremendous care. The down time is approximately 5-7 days for me. The time was not convenient, but vital and necessary. The money I had spent over the years equaled what I was going to spend for a possible cure. My recommendation is based on the fact that my emotional and social stress caused by my acne lasted much longer than one week.
